Investment Philosophy

Aug 2023 Investment Style
◆ My Ideal Investment Style: "Hands-if"
There are many investment styles — hands-on, hands-off, and hands-if. "Hands-if" means: I'm here if you need me, just reach out. The founder should run the business freely. I won't impose my views or call every week. But when you're stuck — fundraising, org issues, cap table decisions — I'll clear my calendar and go deep. That's the ideal angel-founder relationship.

The real opportunity lies in companies where AI is the core engine, not the marketing pitch.

Mar 2024 Instruments
◆ Preferred stock (Minashi Yuusen Kabu) over JKISS
Why I recommend deemed preferred stock over JKISS convertible notes in many seed-stage scenarios. JKISS is simple, but preferred stock gives both sides clearer governance rights, liquidation preferences, and anti-dilution protection from day one. A practical comparison for Japanese founders choosing their first funding instrument.
